The History of LCWN
The Litchfield County Women's Network was formed in 1981 by eight women who saw a need for a network of contacts to help expand their business and boost their careers. Some of these eight women are still members of the Network today!
Currently, we are more than 70 members strong. We are business and professional women, employees and entrepreneurs, who want to meet other women with the same desire to build relationships - both business and personal.
Networking
The women of LCWN network are here to support and inform you. Whether you're looking for contacts, camaraderie or community connections come join us, and watch your business or career blossom. Litchfield County Women's Network is here to help you make those contacts in a friendly, caring environment once a month at our meetings along with the benefits of becoming a member.
When LCWN Meetings Occur
We meet on every third Wednesday, of each month (except August*) at 5:30 p.m. lasting until approximately 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held at various locations in the Litchfield area and include a combination of dinner, networking and an informative speaker. * The only month we do not hold a meeting is August, when we break for the summer.
LCWN Scholorship Raffle
At each of our monthly meetings we hold our LCWN Scholorship Raffle. Anyone who registers and attends the meeting is encouraged to bring a small unwrapped raffle donation gift. The donation can be anything you dream up (some examples are: gift certificates for your services, candles, health and beauty products, home decorations, stationery, photo frames/albums...anything!). We only ask that each raffle donation you bring includes your business card - so we can properly thank you in the following monthly newsletter.
All raffle donations are displayed on a table and raffle tickets are sold. Tickets cost $1 for (1), or $5 for (10). The raffle is held towards the end of the meeting.
The money collected from the ticket sales is designated for our LCWN Scholarships. The Scholarships are awarded in July to local women interested in going back to college to pursue a new career or to enhance the one they are in. LCWN generally is able to award (2) winners $500 each! And each winner also receives one (1) year complimentary LCWN membership.
Guests Welcome
If you are currently not a member, and would like to see for yourself, what LCWN is all about - the LCWN Board welcomes you to attend one of our monthly meetings! You will be amazed by the warm welcome you receive and it is not uncommon for Guests to become Members by the end of the night!
All you need to do is register for a meeting, pay the determined Guest amount fee and then show up!
It's that easy.
The LCWN Board does ask that any one individual only be a Guest for up to two (2) monthly meetings; then becoming a Member would be appreciated.
LCWN Annual Events
held in April usually the last Thursday of the month. This runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at a local banquet facility, and takes place of the regularly scheduled April Wednesday evening meeting. Daughters Day was designed to bring women together to mentor local area 8th grade girls in helping them realize their life and career potential. The participating women do not bring daughters of their own, as the 8th grade girls are our "daughters" for the day!
held in September during our normally scheduled third Wednesday time slot. This is when the LCWN Board postions are elected and sworn in, we have a Super Scholorship Raffle and we plan a special event or speaker to join us.

held in November during our normally scheduled third Wednesday time slot. At this meeting all members are encouraged and welcome to register for a table to display their goods and services...FREE of Charge! The only cost, is the meeting fee itself. The LCWN Expo is open to all members and guests, just like our other meetings. It is a terrific opportunity to showcase what you offer and if you sell items - make some money for the upcoming holidays!
held in December during our normally scheduled third Wednesday time slot. During this meeting we have a Gift Exchange instead of our normally scheduled Scholarship Raffle, where each attendee brings a wrapped gift in the $15 range and each participant selects a gift, which later can be taken from them and forced to pick another gift...
a very funny experience!
